Winter blooms

I bought this moth orchid plant last summer on clearance, after it finished blooming, without a tag. I'm really not a 'pink' kind of gal, but I love the pink veins and the rich fuschia throat of this blossom. Beautiful, isn't it? Posted by Picasa

  1. We got a few orchids like that (on sale VERY cheap) years ago and they did remarkably well, I thought. I sadly managed to kill off the last of them this year though... actually the cats helped a lot by knocking them over several times.

Did you know that your blog is in a "Best of" book? Email me for details if you don't know already!

Gorgeous flower! Do you think growing orchids is hard, or fairly easy? Just curious.

Hi LauraP, I was just blog surfing and found you! Wow, I really like this one.
It’s such a pleasure to read your post …. Interesting! I was over at another site

    looking at pool accessories

and they didn't go into as much detail as you, but nonetheless interesting.

  5. Michelle - I think moth orchids (phalaenopsis) are reasonably easy once you find the right spot for them. I've managed to kill all the dendrobiums and oncidiums I've had. Haven't worked up the courage to try a cattleya yet.

I was at an orchid show in St. Louis last weekend. Very impressive, but I could never grow them successfully.
